In Memoriam

Mrs Louis D. MacPhee
(Sarah Buchanan, daughter of Anthony and Jane Buchanan)

It was with feelings of deep regret that her many friends received the sad news of the death in the P.E.I. Hospital, on Monday August 23rd (1948) of Mrs. Louis D. MacPhee of Clyde River, in her 55th year.
Although a great sufferer of many months, Mrs. MacPhee bore the illness with that fortitude and courage which always mark the life of a true Christian. She had several operations over a period of years, and was in the hospital for five months previous to her death, where everything possible was done, by skilled Doctors and nurses, to alleviate her intense suffering. At times high hopes were held by her loving husband and family for her recovery, but God willed otherwise and on the above date she passed peacefully on, to be forever with the Lord.
The late Sadie (Buchanan) MacPhee was born in Elmwood the daughter of the late Anthony and Jane Buchanan. During her early married life she and her family lived in Strasbourg, Saskatchewan for twelve years having returned to P.E.I. seventeen years ago to reside at Clyde River.
She was a woman of sterling qualities and was highly respected by all who knew her. She will be greatly missed in her home where she was ever ready and willing to welcome her family and friends, young and old. She was greatly interested in the activities of the church and community and until about a year ago took an active part in them.
Besides her sorrowing husband she leaves to mourn the loss of a king and loving mother, two daughters and two sons. MacFadyen; Euphemie, Mrs.Clarence Frizzell, New Haven; Maggie Bell, Mrs. Davis Ward, Kingston and Hazel, Mrs.Robert MacKinnon, Churchill; Jack, Bonshaw; Roland and Fred, Churchill and Bill, Elmwood.
The funeral which was very largely attended, was held on August 25th from Clyde River Presbyterian Church, of which she was a faithful member.
